Dr. Guru O is a passionate and dedicated Oral Medicine Specialist committed to delivering high-quality care with compassion and precision. He earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide in 2012 and began his career in Singapore, where he gained broad clinical experience across both public and private sectors. In 2016, he returned to Adelaide to continue practicing general dentistry before pursuing further specialization.

 

Dr. Guru completed a Master’s degree in Orofacial Pain at the University of Sydney in 2021 and successfully passed the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) primary examinations in 2020, receiving multiple commendations. He later moved to Perth to undertake his Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Oral Medicine at the University of Western Australia, where he achieved specialist registration. He also completed the Fellowship in Dental Sleep Medicine (Australian Sleep Association) which only a handful of dentists have completed.

Dr. Guru’s training has been both extensive and multidisciplinary. At the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia, he worked alongside the Head and Neck team at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and was involved in facial pain clinics, as well as rotations across dermatology, rheumatology, immunology, sleep medicine, and pain medicine. He also broadened his clinical experience through interstate training at the Royal Melbourne Dental Hospital and the Westmead Centre for Oral Health.

A strong advocate for advancing the field of oral medicine, Dr. Guru has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and contributed to multiple book chapters on topics such as orofacial pain and mucosal disease. His interests span the full spectrum of oral medicine, with a special interest in orofacial pain and dental management of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea. He takes great pride in staying current with the latest research and clinical practices.
